Weekend Activity Round Up

The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office had a busy weekend with a total of eight arrest made.

  • On Friday, October 20, 2017, deputies arrested Dorothy Grice Mitchell in Silas, Alabama for Menacing.
  • Friday evening, several individuals were at an abandoned home located on Shady Grove Road and Oneal Road.  Steven Lee Powe decided to drive off from the scene with two other individuals in the car.  He drove his car to the back of a home on Shady Grove Road and ran on foot.  Powe was arrested for Attempting to Elude.
  • Later that night, deputies were called to Lisman, Alabama on an assault call.  Deputies arrested Amy Gardner Hearn for Filing a False Report to law enforcement.
  • Saturday morning, deputies along with an Alabama State Trooper conducted a road block in the Shady Grove community.  Deputies arrested Terell McGrew for Possession of Marijuana and Christopher Matthew McGrew for Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
  • Saturday evening, a deputy was flagged down in the Chapel Hill community over an argument involving neighbors.  David Michael Abston decided to run from the scene.  Deputies arrested Abston for DUI, Resisting Arrest, Attempting to Elude, and Disorderly Conduct.
  • On Sunday morning, deputies went to King Chapel AME Church in Aquila, Alabama to execute warrants stemming from a long and ongoing dispute with members of the church.  Dewayne Daniels was arrested for Harassment and Antonio Young was arrested for Menacing.
  • Sunday evening, deputies responded to a report of a “drive by shooting” on Second Avenue in Silas, Alabama.  This case is currently under investigation.

Sheriff Scott Lolley would like to commend members of the Alabama State Troopers and Gilbertown Police Department for their assistance with some of these calls over the weekend along with the deputies of the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office for their dedication.
