Stolen Car/Chase/Assault Rifles

Last night the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a car was stolen at Goco’s in Silas, Alabama.  During the initial investigation it was discovered that the owner drove up to the front of Goco’s and went inside.  When he came back outside the car was gone.  Proper notification was sent to other law enforcement agencies.

Several hours later, a Wayne County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop in Waynesboro.  The vehicle ran from the deputy and began a high speed chase.  The suspects ran from Waynesboro back to Landfill Road.  At Landfill Road several black male suspects ran from the vehicle.  At the time that they were exiting the vehicle, one suspect pointed an assault rifle at the deputy.  Wayne County deputies began searching for the suspects.  Choctaw County Sheriff Scott Lolley along with Choctaws investigator responded to the location on Landfill Road to assist with hunting the suspects.  At the scene, 3 additional assault rifles were recovered.  All 3 rifles were fully loaded.  During the search for the suspects, Wayne County took one individual into custody.  The suspect was taken back to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed.  The victims car was recovered on scene.  This investigation is still ongoing.
