On Friday, March 3, 2017, the Livingston Police Department requested assistance from the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office in arresting Jeffery Lee Brown of Livingston, Alabama.  Brown had an outstanding warrant for Rape 2nd, and information revealed that he was inside the loading yard of Georgia Pacific in Pennington, Alabama.  Based on real time information being received, the sheriff’s office had a description of the commercial vehicle driven by Brown.  Sheriff’s deputies, Pennington Police and Livingston Police waited outside of the truck exits for the vehicle.  After several hours of waiting, a white dually truck and a commercial vehicle came out of the loading area.  The suspect had swapped vehicles and was inside the dually truck.  The commercial truck that the suspect had drove into the loading area was now being driven by the company owner.  The suspect was taken into custody and transported back to the Sumter County Jail in Livingston, Alabama.  The company owner, William Brown, was arrested for Hindering Prosecution 1st Degree and transported to the Choctaw County Jail.  Hindering Prosecution 1st degree, in this case, is a class C felony.

The public should be aware that any attempts to hinder the apprehension, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of someone will result in their being charged with this crime.
