Arrest in Silas Vehicle Thefts

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, a truck was stolen at Kirklands store in Silas.  Then on Saturday, December 16, 2023, a car was stolen at Goco’s in Silas.

On December 16, 2023, several hours after the car was stolen, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the car.  A high speed chase ensued from Waynesboro to Landfill Road where several subjects ran on foot.  The stolen vehicle was recovered as well as numerous firearms one which was stolen from Waynesboro.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, KELVIN WALLEY, 18, of Waynesboro, was arrested on January 26, 2024, for two counts of Theft of Property 1st degree involving the theft of both vehicles.  WALLEY was transported from the Wayne County Jail to the Wilcox County Jail where he has bonded out.

Investigators have other suspects identified, however, due to their age, their information cannot be released. Other charges and arrests are likely in relation to these cases, in both Choctaw County and Wayne County, Mississippi.

This investigation has been a joint effort of the Wayne County and Choctaw County Sheriffs Offices.  It is an ongoing investigation.
